As well as ancestor spirits, Kuy believe in other character spirits which includes that of the monitor lizard (takuat) which they consider being symbol of fertility. The Kuy carry out ceremonies to propitiate the takuat spirit and ask for fertility from mother nature. They'd also go ahead and take tail on the lizard to use in divination ceremonies.
